EEF Board of Directors Update
A Meaningful Start to 2026
As we close out the first quarter of 2026, I’m filled with both gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead at the Enriched Escapes Foundation.
This year marks an important chapter for us. After receiving our 501(c)(3) status in December, we entered 2026 focused on building a strong, thoughtful foundation, one that ensures every dollar raised and every decision made directly supports the individuals and families we aim to serve.
Building with Intention
Q1 has been a season of laying the groundwork.
Behind the scenes, we have been finalizing our application and approval process for Travel Wish recipients. Our goal is to create a system that is compassionate, respectful, and responsible, honoring both the vulnerability of applicants and the generosity of our donors.
We are proud to share that our Travel Wish Application and Approval Committee has officially reviewed and approved the first version of our application. This milestone brings us one step closer to opening applications and beginning what we set out to do: grant meaningful travel experiences to adults facing late-stage cancer.
The Strength of Our Community
None of this work happens alone.
I am continually inspired by the incredible individuals who have stepped forward to support this mission. Our Board of Directors brings not only compassion, but a depth of professional experience across healthcare, finance, operations, and community leadership. Their guidance has been instrumental in shaping a foundation that is both heart-centered and operationally sound.
In addition to our board, we are supported by a growing network of advisors, volunteers, and community advocates who believe deeply in this mission. This foundation is truly a collective effort, and it is stronger because of it.
Early Momentum & Partnerships
We’ve also begun building relationships with organizations that will play a key role in both identifying applicants and supporting travel experiences.
We are in early conversations with healthcare providers, oncology centers, and hospice organizations to create thoughtful referral pathways for potential applicants. At the same time, we’ve started outreach with travel and hospitality partners who may support future wishes through donated stays, experiences, and services.
While we are still in the early stages, the enthusiasm and openness we’ve encountered have been incredibly encouraging.
A Meaningful Milestone
Just two days before the close of the quarter, we had the honor of being recognized as a Kindness Certified Company.
This designation reflects a commitment to leading with empathy, compassion, and intentional impact, values that are deeply embedded in everything we do at the Enriched Escapes Foundation. Being Kindness Certified means aligning our mission and operations with a broader movement dedicated to creating positive change through acts of kindness, integrity, and human connection.
It is incredibly meaningful to be recognized in this way so early in our journey, and it reinforces our belief that even in life’s most difficult moments, kindness can be a powerful force for healing and connection.
Looking Ahead
As we move into Q2, our focus shifts from building to action.
In the coming months, we plan to:
Open our application process to begin reviewing our first travel wish recipients
Continue expanding our network of medical and travel partners
Host our first in-person fundraising event in Carlsbad this May
Grow awareness of our mission within both the local community and the travel industry
Each step brings us closer to delivering on our purpose: creating meaningful moments of connection, joy, and lasting memories for individuals and families navigating an incredibly difficult chapter of life.
With Gratitude
To our founding donors, supporters, and community - thank you.
Your belief in this mission, especially at such an early stage, means more than words can express. You are helping us turn an idea into impact, and we are just getting started.
With gratitude,
Chanda Daly
